
The State of New York has recently passed into law a requirement that all Firefighters be equipped
with some type of Emergency Egress System or Bailout equipment which meets the NFPA 1983 standards,
2006 edition. This new law is generating many questions and concerns within the departments. RIT will
be providing useful and accurate information on a regular basic to assist New York State Fire Departments
in understanding the law and what the associated NFPA requirements are. This is designed to assist you
in making an informed decision for your department needs. Please check back often for more information.
